New Delhi: Congress faced another setback today as its lawmaker Prakash Behra joins Bhartiya Janta Party in New Delhi.
Behra is a sitting MLA of Congress party from Salepur constituency in Odisha.
BJP Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and spokesperson Sambit Patra welcomed Behra in the party.
Welcoming the leader, Dharmendra Pradhan said “that we welcome Prakash Behra, he looks like a youth leader but holds a strong political presence in his constituency and also affects the political mathematics of opposition parties”.
Addressing the media, Prakash Behra said, “first of all I want to thank Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra and other respected party leaders for welcoming me and supported me in joing the party. I have joined the party because I have faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and in his leadership. Youth in my constituency is highly influenced by the initiatives taken by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi and wants to move ahead with supporting our Prime Minister. The youth of the country is overwhelmed by the surgical strikes step taken by our Prime Minister. I promise to work for the party with all my mind and heart, we will be successful in Odhisa to bring BJP to power.”
As Prakash Behra holds concrete political presence in Odisha, it is believed that the leader will help BJP to score better in the state.
With the announcement of Lok Sabha 2019 elections polling dates, Political leaders started concerning about their political careers, and hence the era of switching parties has been started. Political leaders hope that it will elevate their political score.
In recent days, various prominent political leaders including Balbhadra Manjhi, Congress spokesperson Tom Vaddakkam and Arjun Singh had joined the saffron party.
