Supreme Court Appoints Five-Judge Bench On Triple Talaq Issue

Galgotias Ad

Supreme Court of India has decided to construct a five-judge constitutional bench to look in to the matter of Triple-Talaq.
Triple-Talaq has been a debatable issue since long. It is a practice in Muslim Community where any husband can get divorce from his wife by repeating the word thrice. Chief Justice JS Khehar also insisted that Supreme Court will take three important matters for hearing during Summer Vacation. This is being done to get some relief from huge-piles of pending cases in the court.

The NDA government has made its opinion clear in the matter. The government terms it as a violation of fundamental rights granted to women under Indian Constitution.

The hearing in this case will start from May 11.
