Win a Fishing Trip with President Jimmy Carter by Committing to Zero Preventable Deaths by 2020

Business Wire India

The Patient Safety Movement announced today that for the 2nd year in a row, former President Carter is demonstrating his support for the Movement’s goal of zero preventable deaths by 2020 by offering an opportunity to join the former President and First Lady Rosalynn for a private fishing trip in Georgia.

The top two healthcare institutions that have committed to saving the highest number of lives through commitments to implementing processes such as Actionable Patient Safety Solutions (APSS) by August 31, 2016 will be selected to go on this exclusive trip. Winners will be announced in September 2016. The trip will take place October 14-16, 2016.

“We are excited that President Carter is offering this special trip again this year. It will motivate some healthy competition for our hospitals around the globe to save lives from human errors. We are hoping to double the 400 entrants we had last year. I’m certain the winners last year will never forget the fly-fishing fun and intimate group discussions they had with President Carter and First Lady Rosalynn. Topics ranged from world events to challenges and opportunities facing patient safety,” said Joe Kiani, Founder of the Patient Safety Movement Foundation. “The Carter Center has helped improve the quality of life for more than 80 countries and is on the verge of eradicating guinea worm disease, the second disease ever to be eradicated, after small pox. We appreciate their support in recognizing those that are helping to eliminate preventable patient deaths.”

To be considered, please make your commitment to ZERO today on the Patient Safety Movement Foundation’s website. The top two organizations with the highest lives saved commitments will be chosen for the exclusive outing. See complete contest rules.

About The Patient Safety Movement Foundation

More than 3,000,000 people worldwide, including 200,000 people in the US, die every year in hospitals in ways that could have been prevented. The Patient Safety Movement Foundation was established through the support of the Masimo Foundation for Ethics, Innovation, and Competition in Healthcare, to reduce the number of preventable deaths to 0 by 2020 (0X2020) in the US and dramatically worldwide. Improving patient safety will require a collaborative effort from all stakeholders, including patients, healthcare providers, medical technology companies, government, employers, and private payers. The Patient Safety Movement Foundation works with all stakeholders to address the problems and solutions of patient safety. The Foundation also convenes the annual World Patient Safety, Science and Technology summit. The Summit presents specific, actionable solutions to meet patient safety challenges, encouraging medical technology companies to share the data for which their products are purchased, and asking hospitals to make commitments to implement Actionable Patient Safety Solutions.
