BIRLA INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY, NOIDA is celebrating its 29th foundation day on 1st – 2nd October 2016. The first day of celebrations started with the splendid performance of the play “COURT MARTIAL” by ASMITA GROUP.
ASMITA THEATRE GROUP has successfully completed 23 years of social political relevant theatre is one of the leading Hindi theatre groups in the country, that stands committed to aesthetically innovative and socially relevant theatre.
COURT MARTIAL is the popular play written by Swadesh Deepak who is a popular Indian playwright, novelist and short story, focusses on the social problem of caste discrimination. The play has been directed by Arvind Gaur and has been the most staged show of India. The play received huge appreciation from the crowd. The play touched upon the various aspect of society including caste system, violence against women among others.
After the applauding performance by ASMITA GROUP, the Chief Guests for the event, Mr N P Singh, DM Gautam Budh Nagar and Mr Arvind Gaur, Director of the Delhi based theatre group ASMITA were presented with mementos.
Shilpi Marwah of ASMITA group was awarded with the SARLA DEVI BIRLA MEMORIAL AWARD FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE 2016 for her outstanding contribution to the country in arena of social justice through means of theatre and drama.
Lastly On this auspicious occasion, BIMTECH launched its ambitious social campaign BETI HI BACHAEGI that have following objectives:
1. Creating Awareness among school girls and their teachers against illegal foeticide and motivating them for a change in perception of their parents.
2. Involving and mobilizing cultural organizations, activists, writers, media persons, doctors, social workers and religious leaders in favour of “Beti Hi Bachayegi” Programme.
3. Providing life-skills, soft skills and career counseling to school girls
4. Involving Ragini Singers (folk singers who are very popular in our district) in favour of “Beti Hi Bachayegi” theme.
5. Promoting “Beti Hi Bachayegi” campaign on Social Media (Twitter, Facebook etc) through alumni, students, faculty and staff.
