Minister pays surprise visit to bus depots in #Ghaziabad
Uttar Pradesh transport minister (independent charge) Yasar Shah on Sunday paid a surprise visit to bus depots in Ghaziabad and the Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi from where the UP state road transport corporation (UPSRTC) operates nearly 600 buses.
Unhappy with the passenger amenities at the UPSRTC terminal in Anand Vihar, Shah said he will write to the Delhi government about the same. He also inquired about taxes and fees paid to Delhi for operating the buses from Anand Vihar.
“Our estimated expenses for operating buses come to nearly `54 lakh per month. After hearing this, the minister said that he will speak to the UP chief minister to develop the nearby Kaushambi terminal as a signature bus terminal in UP. He added that the expenses being paid to Delhi would also be saved that way,” said PK Bose, regional manager, UPSRTC.
The minister also visited the Ghaziabad terminal at Old bus stand in the city and directed officials to increase more platforms for buses.
“He asked us to send a proposal for enhanced facilities and for the platforms. He assured us that the proposal would be cleared soon,” Bose added.
At present, the UPSRTC operates nearly 600 bus trips from Anand Vihar and nearly 300 from Kaushambi terminal per day. It also operates nearly 100 buses from Ghaziabad terminal that ferry passengers in nearly 300 trips on a daily basis.
